Running Your First AI Inspection (5-Minute Walkthrough)

The fastest way to understand Flaggity is to run a real inspection on a real photo. You don't need to configure anything first, and you don't need a perfect lab shot — a phone photo of an actual weld or work area is exactly what the system is built for. This walkthrough takes about five minutes.

All you need to start is one thing: a photo of a weld, or a photo of a job site / work area. If you have both, even better — you can try one of each.

Step by step

  1. 1 From the dashboard, choose New Inspection. This is the main action on the platform and it's always one click away.
  2. 2 Pick the inspection type — Weld or Safety. Weld analyzes the quality of a welded joint; Safety looks for hazards in a work area. On higher plans you can run a combined inspection that does both.
  3. 3 Select the facility the work belongs to, and optionally the worker or welder it should be attributed to. Attribution is optional now but it's what later lets you see performance and history per person.
  4. 4 Upload your photos. Your plan sets how many images one inspection can include — the screen tells you the limit as you add them.
  5. 5 Submit. Flaggity sends the images to the AI engine, which analyzes them against the relevant standards. You'll see it working; this usually takes well under two minutes.
  6. 6 Review the result. Each finding shows a severity, a plain-language explanation of what the AI saw, and the specific standard it's cited against.

What the system does automatically

You don't have to tell Flaggity which clause of which code to check. Based on the inspection type, it analyzes the images against the appropriate welding or safety standards, decides whether the work passes or returns findings, and assigns each finding a severity so you can triage quickly. It also resizes and prepares your photos for analysis automatically, so large phone images just work.

What happens next

From the finished result you can do three things: generate a PDF report or a certificate to share or file, open a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) for any finding that needs to be fixed and tracked, or simply re-inspect after a repair to confirm it now passes. Most real use looks like: inspect → review findings → report the clean ones, NCR the failures.

Analysis time scales with the number of photos, because every image is genuinely analyzed — a single-photo weld is near-instant; a large multi-photo set takes a bit longer.

Good photos produce good findings. Shoot in focus, fill the frame with the weld or hazard, and avoid heavy glare or motion blur. You don't need professional equipment — you need a clear view of the thing being inspected.
